Overcooked 2 Night Of The Hungry Horde

Over the last few months Overcooked 2 has received a lot of extra content, be it the free seasonal updates, the Surf ‘n’ Turf DLC or the newly released Season Pass DLC, Campfire Cook Off. Of course, when purchasing the Season Pass the developers promised a lot more content, which brings us to the second part of the Season Pass, namely the Night of the Hangry Horde. It seems the Unbread are back again, forcing us to cook new dishes, use new items in the kitchen and even fight off the wicked monsters with the newly implemented Horde mode.

In this newest DLC we’re treated to twenty new levels, which once again introduce new recipes and new ways of cooking them. You’ll have special guillotines in levels that serve as the chopping device to create new soups. There are also furnaces which are powered by coals, making the fire more intense, allowing for quicker cooking times, if you restock the coals frequently. Other than that, the kitchens once again have new layouts. Once again, things feel refreshing, but the base game already provides you with ample experience to tackle the levels that are thrown at you.

Just like the previous DLC, we feel that the levels are designed for a four player party, more than single or two player usage. You’ll often find that you have enough space in the kitchen, and there are often sections that only one player can reach when playing with two players, meaning you’ll often have to devise a strategy to get all the work done. This DLC also throws four new chefs in your kitchen, which will already be unlocked at the start of the DLC, which means that there’s no unlockable content in this expansion, safe for reaching the goals of the tougher Kevin levels, which only appear after certain conditions have been met.

Something completely new in this DLC are the Horde levels, which are amazingly fun. During these levels, you’ll have to cook dishes for the Unbread monsters that are storming the battlements of your castle. You’ll have different drop-off points, which have flimsy defenses. If you drop the right dish at the monster that is approaching a certain drop-off point, he will stop his attack and eat the meal instead. When your defenses get hit, you can repair them with the money earned from delivering your dishes on time. If you don’t repair your walls in time, your castle will take damage, which will diminish your score.

Conclusion

Overcooked 2 Night of the Hangry Horde takes a lot of content from the base game and improves upon it. While the main levels are of the same quality as those of the base game, the newly implemented Horde levels add a new challenge to the game, making it even more fun by spicing up what you’ll have to do in your kitchen. If you were still on the fence whether or not to buy the Season Pass, we can wholeheartedly advise this extra content to you.
